Tryouts
Policies
- Players will not be allowed to attend a session other than the one they have been assigned to. If a situation comes up where a player cannot attend their designated session, approval from Stephanie Corcoran, President or Liam Ferguson, Director of Coaching is required to attend a session, different than assigned.
- No parents are permitted in the rink during tryout sessions
- No parents are permitted to call a coach or evaluator during and/or after the tryouts to discuss their child’s tryout. For process questions, speak to the WWYHA volunteers at the check-in table. For all other hockey inquiries please contact Liam Ferguson, Director of Coaching at fergyliam18@gmail.com
Format and Guidelines
- An Evaluation Team, which will be comprised of the 2025-2026 Coaches, as well as the Director of Coaching, Liam Ferguson, will be present on the ice during each tryout session.
- The Evaluation Team will advise the “on-ice” evaluators of the format & drills they want the players to follow during a particular tryout session.
- The first tryout session, for each of these levels, will be divided alphabetically.
- The Evaluation Team will then divide subsequent sessions at their discretion. Whether the sessions are divided up by player number or alphabetically, this information, and the session times will be communicated via email to each registered participant.
- The “AA” teams may be selected after the 2nd tryout, and those selected players will be notified by email. (The Head Coach may also contact members of the team in addition to them receiving the email notification.) All remaining teams will typically be selected within 48 hours from the last tryout session for that level, with the entire team placement process taking up to 5 days, so please be patient.
- Each player will receive an email notification of their team placement directly. Within the email notification, a date and time will be specified whereby the player must commit to the team offered via Crossbar (online registration system) and pay their deposit.
- Deposits will be accepted online via Crossbar or a check can be dropped off to the Wizards Wonderland of Ice Mailbox (outside of the Stadium Rink) by the specified date. Failure to commit to the offer within the specified commitment date communicated will automatically forfeit the spot offered.
- If you are applying for a scholarship for the 2025-2026 season, please note that a deposit of $500 will be required to secure your roster spot. This deposit ensures your place on the team while scholarship decisions are being finalized. All remaining payments will be scheduled once the scholarship determination has been made, allowing you to plan accordingly based on any awarded amounts. Scholarship applications are available on the Wonderland Wizards website under the resources section. If you have any questions regarding the scholarship application process, please contact Ann Marie Harris at ammaceraharris@gmail.com.
- Tryout fees will not get applied to the 2025-26 TRAVEL hockey season fee.
- If a player does not make a travel team, half of the tryout fee can be applied to their HOUSE hockey season fees.
